BRIGITTE MATTEI

Artist statement

The process involved in this work reveals the perception of how, many worlds and societies converge, to become an agglomeration, an abundance of past, future of, east and west, from sub culture, pop culture, native culture to the great classics of the renaissance, from the ancient myths to the for front of the cybernetic age. All have added their form of data, their contribution to the conduct of this practice. Progressively it developed from automatism to mythology to symbolism to impressionism and realism. It reveals the imagery of the quest for the subconscious to surface and manifest itself, to be known through the presence and characteristics of the subjects often represented in a state of repose, suggesting identity and personality. It is but one moment in the subjects lifetime, a fragment related only through personal experience.the work
